This map provides the current ocean surface temperature. Ocean tenmperature can affect the amount of available moisture available to storms depending on the surface temperature. The water temperature also determines support for tropical weather systems (i.e. hurricanes and tropical storms).

The US Coast Guard and harbor reports are provided by the NWS Oxanrd and NWS San Diego offices.

Ocean buoy data are provided by the National Buoy Data Center.
